Joints are frequently affected by rheumatism; it is estimated that over 5 million people worldwide suffer from it. Rheumatism generally refers to an inflammatory state of the joints and their structures which, in its most advanced stage, also affects tissues and internal organs.

Arthritis and arthrosis are two different types of rheumatism. Arthrosis is the most common form: it is caused by the progressive degeneration of the cartilage that protects the bones of the joints and causes pain that becomes increasingly disabling over time. There is a clear genetic predisposition, but it manifests itself under external influences such as viruses, bacteria, mechanical stress and hormonal factors. Arthritis, on the other hand, is the inflammation of the joint itself, which can occur at any age.
